Mechanical Pulping is used in products such as paperboard, tissue, printing and writing papers. Its high yield gives it an advantage. Mechanical pulp provides high bulk and good opacity. It can also be mixed with chemical pulps to produce a mixture of properties. Mechanical Pulping process is a high yield process that utilizes electric energy for separation of wood chips into single fibers. The yield, which is the percent of the log that becomes pulp, range from 97% down to 80%.
Metso select the most efficient process to utilize available raw materials for desired Paper or Board product. By advanced technology the energy consumption can be kept at minimum while preserving the natural resources like water and forests. As Mechanical Pulping utilize energy instead of chemicals to separate fibers, also the dissolved materials from the process are much less and consequently there is much less effluent to care for.
