The press frame is subjected to enormous strain that can lead to metal fatigue. To extend the frame’s service life. Metso has produced a reinforcement kit that can be installed on existing presses.
During the press operating cycle the strain on the frame can vary from nothing to enormous. This means that the frame is stretched during each press cycle and then returns to its unloaded state. These repeated load changes can, over time, result in metal fatigue. By installing a prestressed joint consisting of tension bars the strain on the frame is considerably reduced.
