Successful Front-end Seminar for MDF producers

Pattaya, Thailand was the site of the Metso Fiberboard Front-end Seminar held for MDF producers in Southeast Asia. Some 50 persons from 20 different mills and six different countries heard experts from Metso describe the latest in front-end technology for the MDF industry. Topics covered included wood handling, chip washing and the Evolution Defibrator system as well as refiner segments and products for improving existing machinery and processes. Day one began with an overview of Metso operations in the world and in Southeast Asia followed up by the savings Evolution Defibrator sys­tems make possible. In the afternoon participants were treated to sightseeing in and around Pattaya, which included a visit to the float­ing market and a short stop at the wax museum. The day was topped off with a traditional Thai dinner. During day two presentations of refiner segments and products for improving the existing equipment were made. The seminar ended with a couple of hours of round-table discussions during which attendees could meet the experts to discuss specific issues in depth. An evaluation of the seminar conducted among attendees indicates that they appreciated the seminar and that it should be held again if not every year at least every other year.
