In 2011, we continued the global implementation of our health, safety and environment monitoring system, HSE Monitor (previously OHS Monitor). Accidents, environmental damage, near-miss situations and observed risks related to occupational health and safety are collected into the HSE Monitor. By analyzing them, similar incidents can be prevented. At the factory level, the system accelerates the procedures for reviewing accidents and dangerous situations.
In 2011, approximately 80% percent of Metso employees were covered by HSE monitoring. The usability and reporting features of the HSE Monitor were developed and new functionalities added. From the beginning of 2012, all incidents must be reported to the HSE Monitor.
In 2012, a new HSE self-auditing tool for location-level safety audits will be implemented. The tool will enable our units to make sure that they are following the common safety practices and will help them to identify and prioritize the development areas for their safety work. The tool can also be used for safety audits done by another Metso function.
