The Metso HIGmill™ is an advanced, energy-efficient fine and ultra-fine grinding solution that utilizes proven technology. With the tall, narrow, vertical body arrangement, grinding media is evenly distributed and mineral particles remain in constant contact, significantly increasing grinding efficiency. It takes advantage of gravitational forces and GrindForce™ rotor technology to produce a finer grind for mineral liberation.

FIT™ stations

FIT™ stations are focused primarily on speed and flexibility to provide a quick installation. The steel structures are supplied in modules that fit easily into containers for transportation. The need to process more finely disseminated and complex ore grades, as well as declining ore grades and the demand for improved flotation selectivity, all bring new challenges to minerals processing flowsheets.

The Concorde Cell technology helps flotation circuits overcome these challenges and achieve improved efficiency in fine and ultra-fine particle recovery.

Digital solutions enable achieving optimal resource efficiency

By complementing energy-efficient equipment with advanced digital solutions, minerals processing can achieve optimal energy efficiency. Analyzers, instrumentation, automation and advanced process control work together seamlessly, from sensing to optimization at every stage of operations. Optimizing the flowsheet can be done efficiently through simulation and modeling, which can be further enhanced by leveraging the value of metallurgical digital twin (Metso Geminex™).

Metso Advanced Process Control (APC) significantly enhances energy efficiency in comminution by leveraging real-time data and sophisticated algorithms to optimize critical operational parameters such as feed rate, mill speed, and water addition. A key advantage of APC is its ability to maximize the primary grinding stage by ensuring maximum loading of the mill for optimal operation while also considering varying ore grades. Ball mills can deliver the required particle size for downstream processes such as flotation and leaching. Maximizing tonnage (throughput) results in a reduction of the specific energy consumption per ton milled (kWh/ton), directly contributing to a more energy-efficient operation. 

APC integrates information that is available in Metso’s advanced instrumentation and analyzers, such as Metso SmartEar microphone, MillSense and PSI online particle size analyzers. These instruments provide continuous feedback on mill conditions, enabling precise control to prevent over-grinding—a common inefficiency that wastes energy and increases wear on steel liners and grinding media. The material flow from mine to mine can be tracked by Metso SmartTag.

Metso Sustainable Flowsheet Explorer (SFX) is a digital solution that enables evaluation, simulation, and comparison of different technological alternatives to gain insights on energy consumption, water usage, GHG emissions, metallurgical performance, and much more.
