Outotec's President and CEO Tapani Järvinen to retire at the end of 2009

Outotec's President and CEO Tapani Järvinen to retire at the end of
2009

The President and CEO of Outotec Oyj, Mr. Tapani Järvinen has decided
to retire at the end of 2009. He has been President and CEO of
Outotec Oyj since the listing of the company in October 2006 and,
prior to the listing, President of Outokumpu Technology Oy since
2003. Tapani Järvinen will be 63 years of age in December this year.
The Board of Directors of Outotec Oyj has already started a process
to appoint a new President and CEO for the company.

Tapani Järvinen comments his decision to retire:"The period of six years as President and CEO of Outotec has been
extremely rewarding. With cooperative and knowledgeable staff I have
had the opportunity to work for the listing of the company as well as
for its strong growth and excellent success in utilizing the raw
material boom. Outotec's financial structure is currently stronger
than ever before, and I believe that the company is well prepared
even for the most challenging market conditions."

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Risto Virrankoski
comments:"Tapani Järvinen's key achievements as President and CEO include the
development and strengthening of Outotec's structure and business
model so that the company has been able to fully utilize the good
