From Accounting Specialist to Key User

Arnas' career at Metso began in April 2020, when he joined as an accounting specialist in the Accounts Receivable team. With a background in accounting and finance, Arnas quickly realized that his interest lies at the precision and clarity that accounting offers. His initial role, which included elements of cash management, has laid a strong foundation for his future endeavors.

After demonstrating his capabilities and commitment, Arnas was promoted to senior accountant within a year. His journey continued as he became a key user in cash management, a position he has now worked for almost two years. In this role, Arnas is responsible for improving and troubleshooting processes related to cash management, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

Embracing job rotation

The concept of job rotation at Metso provided Arnas with a unique opportunity to further develop his skills. He spent four weeks with the Treasury Application team in Espoo, Finland, a team responsible for setting up the systems and processes that the Cash Management team utilizes for payments and bank statements. This hands-on experience allowed Arnas to gain invaluable insights into the preparatory work that supports his usual responsibilities.

Currently, after finishing job rotation, Arnas is working at the Vilnius office. He is now operating in a dual role, splitting his time 50/50 between his key user duties and assisting the Treasury Application team on specific tasks. Arnas feels content in the constant learning and dynamic nature of his work. He finds the in-person experience in Espoo particularly beneficial, offering him a chance to absorb the intricacies of the Treasury Application team's work more effectively than remote training would allow.

"I like when everything changes," he says. "When you are in the same position, it becomes a routine. With new tasks, there's always something new to learn and add to my knowledge."

This attitude reflects Arnas' enthusiasm for professional growth. Each project and new responsibility brings a fresh challenge, enhancing his understanding and making him more adept at identifying and resolving issues. This continuous improvement mindset not only benefits Arnas but also contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the teams he works with.

Future aspirations

Looking ahead, Arnas is excited about the prospects that lie within both of his current roles. The combination of Cash Management and Treasury Applications presents a solid ground for continuous learning and development. Arnas is confident that his experience in both areas will serve him well, no matter the direction he chooses.

"I have support from both of the teams," Arnas notes. "Each time I have questions, they are there to help me." This supportive environment, combined with the challenging and rewarding nature of his work, ensures that Arnas remains motivated and engaged.
