Meet Neda Giti: Mastering logistics through continuous learning and development

Tell us about your career journey so far.

I am currently a Senior Project Logistics Specialist at Metso, where I’ve been since mid-2019. I bring over 14 years of experience in supply chain and logistics, with a strong background in engineering. Throughout my career, I’ve always prioritized continuous learning and development. I hold both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in engineering, which provides me with a solid foundation in research, strategic planning, continuous improvement and technical integration.

What has always kept me going is my commitment to acquiring relevant education and training in logistics, supply chain management, and project management. I believe these fields lay the foundation for a successful career in supply chain, especially when paired with skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. In this dynamic industry, being adaptable to changes in regulations, market conditions, and technology is crucial.

Throughout my career, I have learned that effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and clients is essential for achieving project goals and maintaining smooth operations.

What has been a highlight of your role?

Logistics has always been a key part of my life and career, and I find great fulfillment in the challenge of solving complex problems. One of the highlights of my role has been the opportunity to tackle intricate logistics challenges, often in a fast-paced environment where change is constant. I particularly enjoy the intellectually stimulating aspect of cross-border trade and the cultural enrichment it brings.

Additionally, the ever-evolving nature of supply chain management and logistics technology has allowed me to continuously learn and stay at the forefront of industry developments. This environment of constant growth and challenge is what excites me and motivates me to bring my best to every project.

I am deeply aligned with the Metso value of being open and honest. Transparency and integrity are foundational principles that guide both my professional and personal life. I believe that clear, honest communication is the key to fostering strong relationships and ensuring the success of any project. It allows for better collaboration, clearer expectations, and ultimately, stronger results for both the company and its people.

What do you love to do in your free time?

Outside of work, I take great joy in spending time outdoors, particularly enjoying the beautiful beaches of Perth, Australia, and walking through nature, which I find to be the best form of meditation. I also value quality time with my husband, whether it's going on picnics or simply enjoying each other’s company. I'm always seeking personal growth and self-development, which is why I make a conscious effort to read books or listen to podcasts focused on these themes. Additionally, I practice yoga through YouTube videos in my personal space at home, and I dedicate time to learning basic guitar skills, to challenge my brain in a creative way.

What is your Metsonite Gem? Does it describe you well?

My result from the Metsonite Gem quiz is Quartzite, which I strongly embrace. The primary characteristic of Quartzite is resilience, and I feel this perfectly describes my approach to life and work. Through every setback, I’ve learned to stand tall, adapt, and persevere. I believe that resilience is one of my core strengths, and it has allowed me to thrive through challenges and continuously grow both personally and professionally.
