#MetsoWomen, Daria Kulakova: a journey in commercial support

Daria started her career as an economist, quickly moving up the career ladder to become a Senior Customer Service Specialist in her previous company, proving her talent for handling complex challenges. Driven by a strong desire for growth, she then switched companies to become a Customer Service Supervisor.

The turning point came in May 2020 when Daria joined Metso, as the Head of Quote & Order Management, and was then promoted the Commercial Support Director in June 2023.

Before joining Metso, Daria had gender-related concerns, but her experience has shattered those misconceptions. Metso’s culture values diversity, and Daria’s rise to leadership at just 30 years old exemplifies the company’s commitment to nurturing talent regardless of gender.

“I thought the industry was mainly for men, especially the leadership roles. But joining Metso, I quickly saw that here everyone's skills are highly valued, regardless of gender. I became part of the leadership team at 30 years, which made me see that Metso really puts people first. There is a supportive environment where everyone can grow, and this motivates me for further development,” Daria says.

Fueling success: The power of passion and commitment

Daria believes that loving the company you work for and being passionate about your work is crucial.

“I realized how important it is to love the company you work for and the work you do. My commitment to each employer, drawing inspiration from their missions and values, has always been the driving force that supports my motivation,” she explains. “It was this commitment that allowed me to see in every change not only a challenge but also an opportunity to grow and contribute to the development of the company”.

After working hours, Daria enjoys painting, playing the piano and singing. Creative activities help her maintain a healthy work-life balance and she gets the chance to express herself.
