Welcome to Metso, Celia!

My name is Celia Fan and I just started at Metso a couple of months ago. I am originally from Hong Kong. I went to school in the UK and university in Australia and got my degree in International Business Management from there. I have now been in Finland for 15 years.

Before joining Metso, my last job was in the healthcare industry, and I worked in project management. I applied for the position in Metso because I know people working here and have heard a lot about the company. I was particularly intrigued by the company’s vision in sustainability and its commitment to the environment, development, and innovation. The company’s values in openness and getting it done together encouraged me to apply to be part of this big team to pursue the common vision.

I am currently based in the Espoo office working as ISS Proposal Manager in the Integrated Service Solutions Proposal Management Team. My colleagues are based in different parts of the world. I have been assigned a buddy to help facilitate my start in the company. It was wonderful to have this buddy program as it helped me a lot in settling in the company – from having someone to show me around the Espoo office and to help me meet people and find the best places for lunch etc.

The culture of Metso has been what I expected based on the company values – openness and getting it done together. Everyone I have come across has been open to discussion, questions, and opinions while also being open to help and committed to teamwork and communication. It has been a truly wonderful experience working with everyone – I have felt very welcome right from the start. Everyone in this company is very friendly and supportive and at the same time very professional.

I also feel I can enjoy a work-life balance while working here. Outside of work, I like to spend quality time with my family and friends. I have also adopted the Finnish love for nature – taking a walk to the Keskuspuisto (“Central Park”) is my daily routine that helps me refresh my mind and body.
