Värnamo Krosskonsult to sign significant deals as the Metso aggregates distributor in Sweden

Since October 2023, the aggregates sales of Metso in Sweden are handled by the well-known and established company Värnamo Krosskonsult AB (VKK). During the first months, VKK has signed several, significant sales including a large, portable crushing and screening plant, a four-deck inclined screen and a Lokotrack jaw crusher.

“Actually, the shift to the key distributor for Metso was smooth for us because we did already work as a sales channel in Sweden for three years. We know Metso’s products, people and thanks to our long history the Swedish customers, too, says Kristofer Almén, Vice CEO of Värnamo Krosskonsult AB.

“We see the outlook for future aggregates Metso sales in Sweden bright. Our customers are interested specially in high-quality stationary crushing and screening plants and the famous Lokotrack mobile crushers,” Kristofer adds.

“Competent and professional”

Esa Berg, Director of Metso’s aggregates sales in Finland and Sweden, is happy to welcome VKK as the main sales channel for Metso in Sweden:

“We and the Swedish customers know Värnamo Krosskonsult as a competent and professional company, able to fulfil all of our customer’s crushing and screening needs.”

“In addition to equipment sales, VKK has proven track record in planning processes and systems, and is able to secure a well-working, nationwide customer service, too,” Esa adds.

Crushers and screens sold

The biggest single sales with Metso products of VKK since now include a complete, portable, wheel-mounted crushing and screening plant for Asfaltbolaget in Växjö. To ensure cubical end-products and 250 tons per hour capacity, the plant consists of a large, portable cone crusher and four deck screen followed with a portable four-deck screen.

In addition, VKK has signed a delivery of another two-deck CVB402 inclined screen for Swerock and a Lokotrack LT106 jaw crusher for Civert Jansson Entreprenad & Kross in Åmål.

“Today, our customers think carefully before any major investment because of rather high interest rates, and require reliable and productive machines,” Krister Almén stresses.

Customers rely on VKK’s know-how and service

The customer-oriented thinking of Värnamo Krosskonsult was easy to see when visiting two Swedish customers using Metso crushers and screens: hard rock recycler Bröderna Björklunds Grus and aggregates producer Asfaltbolaget.

“Crusher availability is a must for crushing contractor like us, moving equipment according to a tight schedule between sites. We carry ourselves simple servicing to our Metso portable crusher whenever finding time. Otherwise, Värnamo Krosskonsult is the partner we call, when service and process related questions raise,” states Managing director Peter Björklund of Bröderna Björklunds Grus.

At the new crushing and screening plant of Asfaltbolaget, VKK has been responsible for the process design, machine sales and developing of the process automation system.

Krosskonsult’s Service manager Linus Gustafsson takes all the time necessary to discuss all open issues with Asfaltbolagets machinist Jojje Franssin, operating the plant. Linus steers the modern plant automation system for optimum process flow.

Värnamo Krosskonsult and the Swedish customers seem to share a common goal: in addition to state-of the art machinery, VKK can assist in process planning, automation, spares and wears delivery and field service-related issues.

Start by playing with the machines

Crushing and screening has been a daily interest of the whole Almén family. While Magnus Almén toured around Sweden with his mobile crushing and screening plants, his boys Andreas and Kristofer played with the machines, learning to operate and repair them.

Andreas founded VKK 1997, but after that he had a few years at Svedala Industri travelling around the world before he went full time VKK from 2002. Own premises outside of Värnamo were built in 2008 and widened further in 2014. Today, the premises include office, manufacturing, repairing and renovation premises and parts stock, altogether 2000 square meters.

In 2015, VKK started a daughter company in Ghana, serving West African mining industry. Further in 2022, the company bought a conveyor manufacturer Kellve AB.

Today, Värnamo Krosskonsult AB has a total of 25 employees, of which 7 are working in service functions. Of the brothers, Andreas works as the Managing director and Kristofer as Sales manager.

Process and project expert

The actual start of Värnamo Krosskonsult was as a pure consulting company, active in providing the Swedish customers with process planning of production facilities.

Later, the business was widened into planning and sales of complex aggregates production plants. Service offering is today the fastest growing business sector.

“The majority, some 60% of our invoicing, comes from process planning and equipment sales, 30% of aftermarket including spares sales and field service. The rest is rental business,” Kristofer Almén comments.

“Together with the Metso distributorship and Kellve conveyor manufacturing, our aim is to become the one-stop partner for Swedish aggregates producers and mining industry,” he adds.
