The company produces aggregates to be used in road and high-way surfacing and concrete, their customers mainly being asphalt plants and concrete manufacturers. Their aggregate production in Peyrolles has four crushing stages, and with their 30 staff members they handle 1.2 million tons annually.
The main selection criterium for the MX4 was the maximum feed size, and what interested them with the MX3 was that the Durance Granulats team worked alongside with Metso to develop the new machine. The Metso MX4 cone crusher was commissioned in the secondary crushing stage in January 2018. The tests of the MX3 model in the quaternary crushing stage started in in April 2018, when the MX3 replaced an old crusher.
“The MX4 has met our expectations and delivered instantaneous flow rate as well as improved crushing energy efficiency for about 12 percent. We have also been piloting the MX3 on quaternary stage since April 2018 and we are fully satisfied with its performance and we plan to continue with it”, says Mathieu Kasprzak, Director of Operations at Durance Granulats in France.
