Metso Full portfolio Ausmelt® Lance
Achieve accurate temperature control, minimize fuel usage, and extend refractory campaign times. At the heart of Metso Ausmelt TSL technology is the use of the vertically suspended Metso Ausmelt Lance, operated with its tip submerged in the slag layer of the molten bath.

The primary functions of the lance are to control the bath temperature and to ensure sufficient bath agitation and mixing to promote the various metallurgical reactions taking place.

• Provides high reaction rates and capacity
• Offers precise control of oxygen potential at the lance’s tip, ranging from highly oxidizing to highly reducing
• Can be replaced simply and quickly

The patented lance design acts to induce the formation of a frozen slag layer on the lance exterior, protecting it from damage and rapid wear during furnace operation. The Metso Ausmelt Lance is held in place by the Metso Ausmelt Lance Handling System, which supports and positions the in-service lance within the furnace. Fuel, air, and oxygen flows to the lance are regulated by the lance valve train, controlled by a Metso PROSCON® PCS. These flows are delivered to the lance via flexible catenary hoses included within the handling system.
