Efficient cooling for versatile applications
Metso OKTOP cooling towers are designed for cooling materials with high sulfuric acid, chloride, fluoride and gypsum content. The solution is fed from the top, with cooling air flowing upwards, generated by a fan at the bottom. The cooled solution is collected and fed to the next process phase.
These towers are ideal for cooling spent electrolytes in zinc electrowinning, gypsum and chloride removal in zinc refineries, and cooling solutions in gold autoclave circuits. They offer significant savings through reduced maintenance and increased uptime.
Robust design and easy maintenance
The OKTOP cooling towers are available in three sizes: 2, 4 and 6 meters in diameter .Manufactured from fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) and high-grade stainless steel, these cooling towers are acid-resistant and structurally strong.
OKTOP cooling towers replace conventional cooling towers, increasing feed rates to electrolysis and maintaining lower outlet temperatures. They optimize performance and set industry benchmarks. With larger air throughput per demister area, OKTOP cooling towers offer the same cooling power with less equipment, reducing investment and operating costs. Maintenance is simplified with accessible top platforms, easy demister cassette removal, and no need for scaffolding.
Metso’s unique maintenance approach allows for online demister maintenance, ensuring stable cooling performance. Nozzle maintenance is quick and easy, and the towers feature a curtain to prevent gypsum precipitation.
