HRC™ Series

High pressure grinding rolls (HPGR)

HRC™ Series high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) are most often utilized when the processed material is hard rock. However, they can also refine softer materials like industrial minerals. The smaller models of the HPGR are particularly productive in producing manufactured sand for asphalt and concrete production.

Versatile applications

Mining operations. Industrial minerals processing. Manufactured sand production for asphalt and concrete production.

Increased throughput

An intelligent flange design to maximize material intake. A patented arch-frame to eliminate downtime caused by skewing.

Reduced operating costs

No need for grinding media. Continuous material stream. Direct feed to the crushing zone.

Easy maintenance

Less required service. Design that allows changing critical parts simply and easily.

Metso HRC™ for Aggregates

Robust HRC™ high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR)

High pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) are used for size reduction or rocks and ores. They compress the feed material between two rotating rollers, one of which is in a fixed position and another roller that is floating.

The two rotating rollers generate such a high pressure that it grinds the feed material to the desired smaller grain size.

Metso's high pressure grinding rolls are known as HRC™. They come in many sizes depending on your application and process needs.

Increased throughput

HRC™ can provide a notable increase in throughput. The flange design maximizes the amount of material that is crushed by pulling the feed into the crushing zone. This method prevents the material passig the rollers and increases efficiency and throughput.

The patented arch-frame, on the other hand, eliminates downtime caused by skewing.

One can also adjust the speed and pressure of HRC™ depending on the material conditions and application requirements.

Energy efficiency

Thanks to the ability to handle a continuous stream of material, HPGRs are considered to be energy efficient grinding machines in general.

HRC™ equipment goes a bit further. They direct the feed material straight to the crushing zone and adjust the speed and pressure in order to avoid wasting energy.

Reduced operating costs

Compared to classical grinding mills, HPGRs don't require grinding media. Furthermore, HRC™ grinding rolls are known for robustness and longevity of wear components.

The anti-skewing arch frame design prevents bearings from being damaged due to misalignment, which will also safe effort and resources.

Safe and ease of maintenance

The key for improving safety during maintenance is to minimize the need for maintenance.

With HRC™ HPGR, downtime has been reduced by using robust components and for example studded tungsten carbide surface, which creates an optimal wear resistance for longevity.

The required service is made easy with a simple design that allow changing the critical parts easily.

Building the world's largest HPGR

HRC™3000 is a new generation high-pressure grinding roll that eliminates issues found in traditional HPGRs, allowing the mining industry to reach a new level of energy efficiency.

The world's largest HPGR was installed at Freeport-McMoRan’s Morenci site in Arizona, USA.
