Removes the need forgrinding media
Comparable footprint to an SABC circuit
Reduced civil and steel works
F100 < 150 mm to P100 < 20 micron
Improved downstream recovery
Up to 7 % better flotation performance
Efficient pressure and shear between the particles ensure that energy goes directly into breaking them apart, which greatly reduces the amount of energy needed for grinding.
The built‑in classifier works under negative pressure to immediately remove fine material. This prevents overgrinding and avoids unnecessary internal recirculation.
Together, these features allow for a very high reduction ratio, making single‑stage grinding possible and removing the need for multiple grinding and classification steps.
As a result, the VRM can use up to 40% less energy than traditional ball mill systems—delivering higher efficiency, lower operating costs, and reduced COâ‚‚ emissions.
The innovative grinding technology provides significant footprint advantages and removes the need for intermediate thickening.
Thanks to the Metso Loesche VRM's high reduction ratio advantages, a VRM circuit simplifies conventional comminution in tertiary crushing and grinding.
The Metso Loesche VRM allows for future expansion with it's unique ramp up capability and high scalability.
The Metso Loesche VRM combines multiple process stages into one highly efficient machine. Capable of handling an F100 of less than 150 mm, producing a finely ground P80 below 20 microns and an impressive reduction ratio of more than 3000:1. The VRM streamlines operations by integrating crushing, grinding, classifying, and material transport within a single unit. This design not only boosts productivity and simplifies flowsheets but also ensures consistent, high‑quality ultrafine output for downstream processes.
The result is a compact, high performance solution ideal for modern mineral processing plants aiming to maximize capacity and efficiency.
Thanks to its efficient grinding mechanism, the Metso Loesche VRM is able to deliver significantly improved mineral liberation which produces a steeper particle size distribution and reduces sulfide oxidation compared to traditional milling technologies.
This enhanced liberation directly supports improved downstream recovery, enabling concentrators to extract more value from the same ore. As a result, VRM operations achieve up to 7% better flotation performance, translating into higher overall plant efficiency and increased profitability.
